Junko Yamada - Paper Collage at The Dumbarton Concert Gallery By portraying modern subjects in vibrant colors, Junko Yamada creates unique artworks in a traditional Japanese art form. Her collages are composed with thousands of pieces using fine rice paper in the tradition of Harie, a style that dates back centuries in Japan. Born in Kyoto, she grew up along the Pacific coast of Japan and studied art in the U.S. She has been chosen as the official artist of the 2010 Cherry Blossom Festival. We are honored to exhibit a range of her work in conjunction with this annual event devoted to the natural beauty of Springtime in our Nations Capitol.
