U.S.-Japan Policy Forum [HOME]

In April 1996, Gateway Japan will host on its Internet site a U.S.-Japan Policy Forum involving invited U.S., Japanese and other Asian experts. Conducted jointly by the National Planning Association and the Center for Global Communications at the International University of Japan, and funded by the United States Institute of Peace, each Forum session will:

Participants will change with each new issue. The Forum will provide e-mail and web-integrated mechanisms to facilitate communications. Participants will be able to access the online issue library by World Wide Web, gopher or FTP. Initially in English only, subsequent dialogues wil benefit from bilingual communications and text search software.

Following each Forum discussion there will be produced both a print and an online summary of each proceeding with consensus conclusions and recommendations. This will then be opened to Gateway Japan members. Resources permitting, Gateway Japan will also establish an open-access dialogue on each issue for world-wide users.
