On Saturday, March 28 from 11 am to 6 pm among the cherry blossoms at the ANA Tidal Basin Stage, the Sakura Taiko Fest will feature performances by a slew of Japanese drumming groups from up and down the East Coast sharing their passion for music, culture, and community. Brought to you by local hosts Miyako Taiko and the Mark H Taiko School, this taiko extravaganza started as a small festival in Maryland and has grown each year to celebrate Japanese cultural and artistic traditions from professional, community, collegiate, and Buddhist taiko groups. Showcasing a range of drumming styles from traditional favorites to modern Japanese-American fusion, each year our annual event has wowed an audience of families, members of the Japanese-American community, artists, and those experiencing taiko for the first time. In 2020 we are excited to once again be bringing taiko groups from all over the East Coast to the center of the cherry blossom action at the Tidal Basin!
