Tree Planting Program

Celebrate the enduring friendship between Japan and the United States by participating in the National Cherry Blossom Festival’s Tree Planting Program. Each year, our efforts help preserve the beauty and legacy of cherry blossoms in the DC area and beyond.

About the Program

Since its inception, the Tree Planting Program has supported community engagement and education through the planting of iconic cherry blossom trees. This initiative fosters sustainability and brings the beauty of cherry blossoms to new generations.

Since 2002, the National Cherry Blossom Festival has been committed to further enhancing the natural beauty of Washington, DC by planting new cherry trees in neighborhoods across the city. Annually, the Neighborhood Tree Planting Program collaborates with schools, civic groups, and community groups throughout DC’s eight wards and National Landing in partnership with Casey Trees to plant new trees and educate groups about tree care and maintenance. The Festival has successfully planted hundreds of trees in the District.
