Hiroaki Umeda began his creative career in 2000. Since 2002, he has performed in more than 150 cities across over 40 countries with his choreographic works having been invited to major world venues, including the Théâtre National de Chaillot in Paris. On top of choreography and dance, he designs the sound, video, and lighting in his works. In recent years, Umeda has created installations focusing on bodily perception. He is often described not simply as a choreographer or dancer, but as a visual artist and mover.
