PETALPALOOZA
WILL BRING LIVE PERFORMANCES, FIREWORKS AND ENAGAGING ART TO CAPITOL RIVERFRONT

New this Year: Public Art Installations to Adorn Capitol Riverfront Neighborhood, Beginning April 1

Washington, D.C. [March 28, 2022] –– On Saturday, April 16 from 1-9 p.m., Petalpalooza, presented by Chase, will take over D.C.’s Capitol Riverfront neighborhood at The Yards. The free event will feature live music on three outdoor stages, interactive art installations, larger-than-life games and activities, a beer and wine garden, roving performers, a spectacular fireworks show, and much more.

New this year as an extension of the Art in Bloom program, presented by Amazon and supported by Park West, the Petalpalooza Art Walk will feature public art installations throughout the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood beginning on April 1 — a full two weeks before Petapalooza kicks off on April 16. Crafted by local artists, these “Instagrammable” experiences are sure to create an incredible backdrop for lasting Festival memories, including a “Swing into Spring” experience presented by Chase. Local businesses throughout the Capitol Riverfront community are also joining in the collective celebration of spring with sidewalk sales, grab-and-go food orders, Trapeze School performances, and fun activities including themed workouts, canoeing, and kayaking.

Petalpalooza attendees are invited to enjoy a full day of live music from local artists on three outdoor performance stages and dance floors. The Acoustic stage will feature Joe Downer, Wild Whispers, Like Water and the Fam and Fordson Labs who will perform alongside online sensation Andrew Savoia; the Chase Main Stage will feature JWX: The Jarreau Williams Xperience, Back to Yours, Jordy Searcy and Juice; and the Performance Stage, presented by Mars Arts DC in partnership with Washington Performing Arts, will combine the art of performance with education. Presenting sponsor Chase will offer a cardholder’s lounge and fun photo opportunities for attendees, and a Better Cities for Pets pet comfort station provided by Mars Petcare to help ensure that every four-legged family member has a fantastic Festival experience.

Fireworks will cap the evening at 8:30 p.m., when a dazzling, choreographed display of fireworks lights up the Anacostia River between the Frederick Douglass and 11th Street Bridges.

“Chase is so delighted to be the presenting partner of this wonderful event for the fourth year in a row,” says Alfonso Guzman, Chase Mid-Atlantic Regional Director. “Cherry Blossoms season is a springtime tradition and when the flowers bloom it lights up the District. This year is even more meaningful as everyone will be able to enjoy the festivities in person.”

The Festival invites all participants to tag their Petalpalooza experiences on social media with the hashtags #Petalpalooza and #RediscoverSpring.

Petalpalooza is easily accessible by Metrobus, DC Circulator’s Blue Route, and Metro’s Green line to Navy Yard-Ballpark or Orange & Blue lines to Capitol South. The Capitol Riverfront also offers eight Capital Bikeshare stations. The fireworks display may be viewed from all locations within the event. In the event of inclement weather, Petalpalooza will be postponed until April 17 from 5–9 PM.

Petalpalooza is presented by Chase and hosted by Capitol Riverfront, with support by LaCroix Sparkling Water, Mars Petcare, Brookfield Properties, DC Water, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), City Cruises, Mars Arts DC in partnership with Washington Performing Arts, Park West Gallery, Dunkin’, and WorldStrides. Media partners include NBC4, OutFront Media, and iHeartMedia Radio.
