The National Cherry Blossom Festival invites students in grades K-12 from Washington, DC public schools, public charter schools, and Japanese schools to join the Annual National Cherry Blossom Festival Student Art Showcase. This year’s theme “District of Blossoms,” celebrates friendship, community, and collaboration to honor the blooming trees and the spirit of spring!
Eight local artists will lead guided workshops at eight schools, where students will be inspired and taught how to use different art mediums to express their take on the theme to create a mural-style piece of art with their classmates. All murals will then be placed and unveiled in an exclusive, in-person unveiling where the student artists can see all eight murals with their families and teachers. The murals will be displayed at Tidal Basin.
