The 2023 Cherry Hunt Experience has Ended

Cherry Hunt

Cherry Hunt is an interactive experience for communities and festival-goers to connect with local restaurants and taste spring like never before. During this highly anticipated month, locals, tourists, foodies, and more will scatter throughout DC and the surrounding areas to visit our selected Cherry Pick restaurants. They will have the opportunity to try out new foods, interact with each other in real-time, and share springtime dishes and drinks.

How to join a Goosechase Experience

  1. Download the Goosechase App
  2. Once in the app, choose to play as a guest, create an account, or log in
    • We recommend you create an account 
  3. Search for the Cherry Hunt Experience or enter the unique join code
    • The game code for this experience is CHERRY
  4. Click the ‘Let’s go!’ button
  5. Turn on your push notifications
    • This will be crucial in completing missions
  6. Choose your username, add a profile picture, etc 
  7. Once the game goes live, complete missions
  8. Have fun!

Weekly Themes

Week 1 Theme: Toast To Spring – Kick your spring off with a delightful drink cocktail or mocktail at one of our Cherry Pick locations.

Week 2 Theme: Spring Into The Night – Be on the hunt for the Cherry Night and Tag your favorite location.

Week 3 Theme: DoorDash – Enjoy a delightful delivery with DoorDash; make it special and order from the Cherry Pick menu

Week 4 Theme: Sweet Spring – Let the good times roll with a Cherry pie, Cherry donut, or Cherry sorbet

Complete Missions

To earn points, complete missions from the list. Mission types include taking photos or videos, checking in at specific locations, or answering questions and riddles.

There are three types of missions:

  • Photo/video missions – Participants must take a photo or video of a specific dish/object/place or perform a creative task and take a photo or video of it.
  • Text missions – Participants must enter a text or number-based answer to a question.
  • GPS missions – Participants must physically visit a specified location. This will be communicated through the mission description or based on a given clue.  

The Cherry Hunt Experience creator will review all submissions and award bonus points, so put your best feathers forward!

Prizes: Each week, you will have the opportunity to win prizes!

COMPLETED: Wine, Cheese & More at District Winery ($150 value)  

COMPLETED: Two (2) night hotel stay with breakfast for two and (2) complimentary drinks 

COMPLETED: The four top participants will each win a DoorDash Gift card ($100 value) 

NOW RUNNING: Participant with the most verified points earned by completing missions and earning bonus points by 2:00 PM on April 15, 2023 will receive a City Cruise with meal service and one (1) bottle of wine. 
 
UP NEXT: Grand Prize – the participant with the most verified accumulated points earned throughout the Experience period (March 20 at 8:00 AM EST through 11:59 PM EDT on April 16, 2023) can win a two-night stay at citizenM Washington D.C. NoMa hotel, $150 gift card at canteenM and a $100 DoorDash gift card.
 
Recipients of the remaining prizes will be notified via email on, if not by, May 1, 2023.

Official Rules

VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. Participation is voluntary, and you may cease participation at
any time. If you participate in the Cherry Hunt Experience (“Experience”) data rates may
apply; you should contact your wireless provider for pricing details.

This Experience is sponsored by the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Inc., 1275 K Street, NW, Suite 1000, Washington, DC 20005 (“we” or “us”). We organize and present the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival (“Festival”) in Washington, D.C. The Prizes, detailed below, is provided by National Cherry Blossom Festival, Inc.

By participating in the Experience, you agree to comply with these Official Rules. We will not consider any entry that does not comply with these Official Rules.

1. When to Enter: The Experience begins March 20, 2023 at 8:00 AM EDT and ends at 11:59 PM EDT on April 15, 2023 (“Experience Period”).

2. How to Participate.

  • Experience participants must 1) download the Goosechase App to their mobile device
    via the App Store or Google Play; 2) create an account; 3) join the Cherry Hunt
    Experience by clicking the “Let’s Go” button; and 4) complete missions per the
    guidelines, requirements and timeframe provided in each mission.
  • Points are accumulated through the completion of missions. Points are pre-assigned
    to each mission. Bonus points may be assigned to missions and their value will be
    disclosed at the start of the mission.

3. Restrictions.

  • Must be a United States resident.
  • Must be at least 18 years old. If under 18 years old, you must be participating in the
    Experience with a parent or guardian as the registered participant in the Goosechase
    App.
  • You may not participate if you are our employee, independent contractor, one of our
    officers or directors, or working for one of our affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising
    promotion and fulfillment agencies or legal advisors, or their immediate family members
    and living in the same household of these persons.
  • May submit only one Entry per Mission via the Goosechase App.
  • Must complete missions within the active Mission Period. Once you submit your Mission
    Entry, you may not delete, cancel or modify that Entry.
  • Must submit via the Goosechase App. If there is a dispute about an Entry, NCBF will
    review the validity of the Entry and adjust acceptance or rejection of the Entry
    accordingly.
  • Must warrant that your Entry: 1) is original; 2) does not violate any third party’s
    proprietary or intellectual property rights or privacy rights; 3) does not contain any
    obscene, indecent or profane images or language or illegal acts; and 4) if your Entry
    shows: a) adults, you have the permission of each of those adults to appear in the Photo
    and to be published in the Experience; or b) children, you are the parent or legal guardian
    of those children or have the permission of each child’s parent or legal guardian to
    appear in your Photo and to be published in the Experience.
  • Acknowledge that we may, without compensating you, publish your Entry on our social
    media pages and on our website for up to one year after the end of the Experience.

4. Prizes.

  • The first Experience winner will receive a $150 District Winery gift card. The second
    Experience winner will receive a two-night stay at Westin City Center Washington, D.C.
    inclusive of breakfast for two and two complimentary beverages ($850 value). The third,
    fourth, fifth and sixth Experience winners will receive a $100 DoorDash gift card. The
    seventh Experience winner will receive a dinner cruise experience aboard the Odyssey
    inclusive of meal service and one bottle of wine ($405.30 value). The grand prize
    Experience winner will receive a two night stay at citizen Washington, D.C. NoMa ($540
    value), a $150 gift card to canteen, and a $100 DoorDash gift card. We will not offer an
    alternative prize, cash equivalent or other substitute prize. If you win, you may not direct
    us to give anyone else the Prize.

5. How We Select and Notify Winners.

  • Prizes will be awarded to: 1) the participant with the most validated points collected from
    missions between the start of the Experience Period and Sunday, March 26, 2023 at
    11:59 PM EDT; 2) the participant with the most validated points collected between the
    start of the Experience Period and April 2, 2023 at 11:59 PM EDT; 3) the four participants
    with the most validated points collected between the start of the Experience Period until
    April 9, 2023 at 11:59 EDT; 4) the participant with the most validated points collected
    between the start of the Experience Period and April 15, 2023 at 2:00 PM EDT.
    In the instance of a tie for most validated points collected during the above-mentioned
    prize periods, the Prize will be awarded to the participant who completed their final
    mission first (had the earliest time stamp according to the Goosechase Experience
    dashboard accessible by NCBF).
  • At the conclusion of the Experience Period, we will award the grand prize to the
    participant with the most validated points collected between the start and conclusion of
    the Experience Period. In the instance of a tie for the Grand Prize, the Prize would be
    awarded to the person who completed their final mission first (had the earliest time
    stamp).
  • This means there will be seven total Experience winners and one grand prize
    Experience Winner.
  • Entries will be reviewed for validation including but not limited to adherence to mission
    guidelines, fact checking GPS check-in coordinates, and violation of original work.
    Participants whose entries are being rejected will be notified of reasoning. Decisions
    following review of entries is considered final.
  • If you have been deemed the participant with the most validated points for each eligible
    weekly prize, we will, on or before April 30, 2023, notify you via direct email message
    (“Award Notice”). We are not responsible or liable for late, lost, misdirected, or
    unsuccessful efforts to notify you if you win.
  • If you win, you will be required to sign and return a publicity consent and release before
    we can provide you with the prize. The consent and release, when signed, will allow us,
    without additional compensation, to use your name, voice or likeness and your Entry
    irrevocably, perpetually and worldwide for any purpose and in any media (known or later
    developed), and to release your name to anyone requesting information about the
    Experience winner. If you do not claim the prize or fail to return to us a signed publicity
    consent and release within five business days of the Award Notice, we may award the
    prize to another person.

6. General Terms and Conditions. By entering the Experience, you acknowledge that:

  • We, our agents and representatives, and entities associated with the Experience are not
    responsible or liable for: 1) late, lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, incomplete,
    illegible, or unintelligible Entries; 2) electronic, hardware or software program, network,
    internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties of any kind; 3) failed,
    incomplete, garbled, or delayed computer transmissions; 4) any condition caused by
    events beyond our control; or 5) any printing or typographical errors in any materials
    associated with the Experience.
  • We may collect, store and use information collected from the Experience in accordance
    with our Privacy Policy (http://www.nationalcherryblossomfestival.org/privacy-policy/).
    We are not responsible for Goosechase’s privacy policy
    (https://www.goosechase.com/privacy).
  • You will indemnify and defend us and our respective shareholders, agents and
    representatives, and entities associated with the Experience (including without limitation
    Instagram and Twitter), to the extent permitted by law from any and all losses, damages
    or claims arising from or related to third party claims related to your Entry.
  • Any and all disputes that cannot be resolved between the parties, and causes of action
    arising out of or connected with this Experience will be resolved individually, without
    resort to any form of class action, exclusively before a court located in your state having
    jurisdiction. In any such dispute, neither party may seek or be liable for incidental or
    consequential damages. You also waive all rights to have damages multiplied or
    increased.
  • We may modify these Official Rules at any time without notice. We may cancel, suspend
    or change the Experience or any element of the Experience for any reason.
  • These Official Rules are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the
    District of Columbia without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or
    provisions.

Quite possibly one of the most beautiful, complex fashions of Japanese culture, the Kimono symbolizes tradition and history. Over centuries the Kimono has been donned by lords, ladies, geishas and samurais. It is still worn today by many in Japanese culture to honor traditional events and special occasions.

We invite you to embrace your inner geishas and samurais, for the Dupont Circle 17th Street, Cherry Blossom “Kimonos and Cocktails” Happy Hour. We are honoring this iconic Japanese garment and encourage you to do the same. Wear your finest threads, or Kimonos! Restaurants and bars along 17th Street will offer signature cocktails and mocktails to tickle your tastebuds. Each with their own special nod to the Cherry Blossom.

The signature cocktail and mocktail with the most votes will win a people’s choice award for the best Cherry Blossom concoction, with the winner being announced on April 6th!

The NCSS United States & Territories Celebration Gala is the signature event of the NCSS Princess Program, which celebrates the 2023 U.S. Cherry Blossom Queen and the 2024 U.S. Cherry Blossom Princesses and crowns the 2024 U.S. Cherry Blossom Queen.

The new U.S. Cherry Blossom Queen is gifted a smaller keepsake MIKIMOTO crown and an exquisite MIKIMOTO pearl necklace, to wear throughout her reign. As the new U.S. Cherry Blossom Queen, she will serve as a cultural ambassador for the United States, with the opportunity to travel to Japan to engage with top government, business, and cultural leaders.

Join the National Cherry Blossom Festival for the Paws & Petals Yappy Hour at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Washington DC Convention Center on March 31 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM EST! Wrap up your work week with your friend and enjoy food, drinks & pet-friendly activities!

Guests and the public are invited to the Embassy Suites by Hilton Washington D.C Convention Centre with their furry friends to attend the Paws & Petals Yappy Hour presented by Mars Petcare. Along with happy hour specials, guests will have the opportunity to sign up for a very special doggie swim at the property’s on-site pool, which is normally closed to pets who stay on-site. Canines can take a splash in the pool while enjoying complimentary dog treats and hand-made drinks. Their human guests will be able to snack on gourmet hot dogs and a specialty “Berry Good Dog” cocktail, and a dog-friendly version will also be available. Any guests that don’t have dogs will have the opportunity to meet adoptable animals at the event. The Sakura Matsuri – Japanese Street Festival is the largest celebration of Japanese culture in the United States. Second Annual Yappy Hour & Pup Swim

Join the National Cherry Blossom Festival and Embassy Suites by Hilton Washington DC Convention Center for the 2nd Annual Paws & Petals Yappy Hour on March 22 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM EST! Bring your furry friend along and enjoy food, drinks, and pet-friendly activities to wrap up your work week in style.

Guests and the public, along with their furry friends, are invited to attend the “Paws & Petals” Yappy Hour presented by Mars Petcare at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Washington D.C. Convention Center. This once-a-year activity includes a special doggie swim in the property’s on-site pool, which is closed to pets who stay on-site.

In addition to happy hour specials, guests can sign up for a doggie swim at the pool while their dogs enjoy complimentary treats and hand-made drinks. Meanwhile, human guests can snack on gourmet hot dogs and specialty cocktails; a dog-friendly version will also be available. If you don’t have a dog, you’ll have the opportunity to meet adoptable animals from the Humane Rescue Alliance at the event at the event.
